Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Receive periodic reports from stakeholders, review and provide feedback on the quality and gender disaggregation of the reports;

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will have:
·         Five (5) years of experience in a research environment preferably in agricultural oriented organisation serving in the areas of gender mainstreaming in middle-level management;
·         The person must have experience of research in gender disaggregation and gender focused research with vast knowledge of socio-economic and gender analysis tools as well as demonstrated progressive experience in administrative services;
·         Should have excellent planning and coordination skills, analytical and problem solving, writing, basic financial management, communication, representation and presentational skills; and
·         Must be computer savvy specifically in MS Office suite of packages and especially versatility with Microsoft office Excel;
·         We are looking for a candidate with a Masters degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, or in any other related field.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         At least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Electronics, or an equivalent diploma with strong knowledge of IT Networks and Telecoms Networks;
·         Minimum 5 years of professional IT Networks and Telecoms or related experience, gained within a similar position;
·         Familiar with System software that controls activities such as input, output, dynamic resource allocation and error reporting within the operation of computer configuration (E.g. Windows, Unix, Linux);
·         Proficient with networking and Communication technologies including the planning and management of the interaction between two or more networking systems, computers or other “intelligent” devices (E.g. ISDN, Ethernet, TCP/IP);

Project Background:
The Capacity Development for EFA (CapEFA) programme focuses on teacher education, aiming to contribute to the development of a balanced and comprehensive education sector through the strengthening of teacher education towards achievement of the national and EFA Goals by 2015. Within the framework of the CapEFA, UNESCO is recruiting an international education specialist with the following duties and tasks.
II. Duties and requirements Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education, the overall supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Multi-Sectoral Office in Nairobi, the technical supervision of the Education Programme Specialist in Nairobi, and in close collaboration with Uganda National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education and Sports as well as the Education Programme Unit of the Nairobi Office, the incumbent will be responsible for programme activities related to the objectives of the CapEFA. S/He shall lead the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and documentation of the programme.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Specifically, s/he will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:
·         Based on the CapEFA programme framework for 2012-2013 and the agreed Programme Document and Work Plan, act as the Coordinator for the overall implementation of CapEFA Uganda, in particular activities during the planning stage including advocacy, dialogue and consensus-building, overseeing the capacity assessment exercise and formulation of the capacity development action plan;
·         Develop detailed work plans and be responsible for the planning, execution and evaluation of the CapEFA Uganda programme, through close collaboration with the national and international counterparts.
·         Monitor work plans and prepare budget revisions as necessary, ensuring that activity-based and financial revisions to work plans are in line with the overall CapEFA Programme priorities and that the required changes are communicated regularly to the technical oversight team at UNESCO HQ;
·         Monitor, report on and oversee the evaluation of the programme activities related to CapEFA Uganda, including the regular 8 month reporting duties, mid-term and final evaluations.
·         Assist the Head of Office in maintaining momentum for the CapEFA Programme and its implementation strategies in line with the country and sector developments, donor consultations and recommendations.
·         Supervise the budget, financial and administrative matters and preparation of documents concerning the CapEFA Uganda programme, reporting status and raising potential issues to the Head of Office and UNESCO HQ.
·         Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of General Education and Instruction for the implementation of the CapEFA Uganda programme, as well as technical advice in the overall development of the Non-Formal Education sector in Uganda.
·         Attend meetings and participate in technical and working groups and meetings related to the CapEFA in Uganda, as and when delegated by the Head of the Office.
·         Identify potential local partners within the NGOs and private sector and civil society for participation in the CapEFA planning stage as well as the execution of the capacity development action plan.
·         Expand and strengthen partnership with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, other line ministries, institutes/universities and NGOs for the implementation of the CapEFA Uganda and for the strengthening and networking of the non-formal education in Uganda.
·         Identify prospective donors and actively participate in such meetings.
·         Promote in-house cooperation across the UNESCO Education Sector and collaborate with UNESCO Headquarters, UNESCO Multi-sectoral Regoinal Office for East Africa, UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning, as well as with other project partners, for effective coordination, planning, implementation and monitoring the Programme, as well as to support and strengthen UNESCO’s position with intellectual and academic institutions.
·         Prepare briefs as necessary on the CapEFA Programme for the supporting donors and for internal use, based on country programme support and regional reports.
·         Ensure timely availability and access to all key programme documents (global, regional, country) for government and technical partners, as well as for uploading onto the UNESCO intranet and CapEFA internet site.
·         Analyze, edit and compile other documentation and prepare background/briefing papers that could be of significance to CapEFA Uganda, particularly with a view to making strategic decisions and adding technical value and input to the programme activities.
·         Participate in the trainings as required, and supervise the staff under the CapEFA Uganda programme.
·         Review the completion of the assignments by staff under CapEFA Uganda according to their job description.
·         Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of the UNESCO Multi-Sectoral Office in Nairobi.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications and experience:
·         An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, preferably education planning, basic education, teacher education
·         At least four to seven years of relevant work experience, both at the national and international levels, in the field of education, with at least two years in the non-formal education and literacy
·         Experience in working in development context, in particular Africa, would be an asset.
·         Experience in managing people, team working building, supervision and management of education programmes

Africa Community Empowerment and Development Initiatives (ACEDI) was started by a group of professionals in 2008 in order to bring meaningful changes in the lives of the most marginalized group of society- pastoralists and other minorities, children and women who have no voices and are excluded from development, through capacity building, research, advocacy and empowerment programmes. Its founders were encouraged by the African Union's (AU) decisions as reflected in the preamble of the AU Constitutive Act, Article 3(a), (g) (h) (k), and Article 22 to engage Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the development, strengthening, and operationalization of the AU at all levels; but particularly concerned about the ubiquitous capacity weaknesses of CSOs in attempts to partner with government in development programmes especially for indigenous civil society organization at the district and grassroots level. ACEDI operates in Uganda and soon expanding to south Sudan in the areas of Health, education, poverty and rights and Governance. ·         Identify and profile trusts and grant making bodies from which ACEDI can receive funding for its community projects ongoing and new
·         Identify and secure funding from overseas foundations, in Europe, US and elsewhere.
·         Develop core generic fundraising proposals for each programme that requires funding.
·         Write tailored applications, addressing grant-making priorities or requirements as specified by individual trusts and foundations or Request for proposals from Bilateral agencies
·         Develop and maintain reporting and application systems and coordinate information with field offices in Uganda and South Sudan
·         Identify and submit applications for prizes and awards that will raise the profile of ACEDI and secure funding.
·         Researching and learning the specific guidelines of each donor category (for request of grants and for progress reports).
2.     Corporate fundraising
·         Identify and approach corporate prospects, securing financial contributions and the support of employees.
·         Manage the relationship with payroll giving agencies and other organisations in order to increase the number of regular givers who support the work of ACEDI
·         Promote and market ACEDI events and appeals to corporate employees
·         Liaise with Business Development team to coordinate strategy for engaging with clients and potential new customers.
3.     General Fundraising
·         Support the Chief Executive officer in the development of ACEDI's fundraising and communications strategy and action plans.
·         Contribute new ideas for fundraising and identify suitable funding initiatives, calls for proposals etc.
·         Objectively review the success and achievements against agreed targets, identifying strengths, weaknesses and areas for development.
·         Maintain organised hard and soft files of all fundraising information.
·         Represent the work of ACEDI at events to members of the public in area of jurisdiction and supporters, where necessary delivering presentations with prior approval.
4.     Support and Communications
·         Providing counsel to the Chief Executive Officer, members of staff and on best ways and opportunities for funding requests;
·         Liaising, coordinating and collaborating with the Communication staff for the creation and development of outreach material for donor solicitation, acknowledgement and cultivation;
·         Contributing to the development and editing of donor brochures in conjunction with visits and events;
·         Supporting the CEO by reviewing and editing project proposals and project budgets as well as progress reports according to donor's guidelines;
·         Producing briefing materials and talking points for the CEO on any fundraising engagements;
·         Provide information to ensure the information for the section on the website on fundraising and communications is up to date.
·         Collate case studies, photographs and information from the field.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         At least one years experience in Trusts or Corporate fundraising.
·         Proven record of successful applications for substantial funding from Trusts and other grant-making bodies
·         Demonstrable ability to develop relationships with Corporate partners and Trusts
·         Experience of researching Trust and Corporate funding opportunities.
·         Working within a charitable environment, preferably within an international development charity
·         Those who retired and are interested in giving back to society as a value are encouraged to apply

Relevant Personal Skills and Competencies:
·         Excellent written skills with the ability to produce concise and creative bids.
·         High standard of computer literacy (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook and the Internet).
·         Meticulous attention to detail.
·         Demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise own workload with minimum supervision.
·         Excellent communication and presentation skills required to build relationships with potential donors.
·         Demonstrable knowledge of , US, European, UK Trusts and Foundations and Corporate giving in general and with a development focus in particular
·         Ability to demonstrate initiative and work well under pressure.
·         Ability to understand and generate budgets.
·         Ability to plan ahead and work within agreed timeframes
·         Initiative and ability to start from scratch and to quickly grasp the range of ACEDI's activities;
·         Ability and willingness to work on a voluntary basis

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the chief of social policy, the social policy specialist will be responsible for developing, overseeing and implementing the policy advocacy strategy of the office. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
a.      Oversee the research agenda of the office to ensure its alignment with the office's policy advocacy strategy.

h.     Self-learning to stay abreast of latest developments in research, advocacy and evaluation.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Advanced university degree in social sciences, law, economics or development policy and planning.
·         Eight years of relevant work experience at national or international levels in social policy research and evaluation.
·         Experience in advocacy.
·         Fluency in English.
·         Knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
·         Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.

Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Education Specialist (BRMS), you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Basic Requirement of Minimum Standard (BRMS) project activities of the Education programme.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.       Designs, prepares, implements, monitors and evaluates education Programme, specifically management of the quality of the Basic Requirement of Minimum Standards (BRMS) coaching/mentoring programme and the Technology for Development (T4D) projects.
2.      Analyzes and evaluates data to ensure achievement of objectives and/or takes corrective action when necessary to meet programme/project objectives.
3.      Contributes to the development and/or introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project management and evaluation.
4.      Contributes towards the preparation of the Situation Analysis by compiling data, analyzing and evaluating information, and writing chapters of the Analysis related to the Education Programme.
5.      Participates in intersectoral collaboration with other programme colleagues. Assists in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and advocate for Education programme development.
6.      Undertakes field visits to monitor programmes, as well as conducts periodic programme reviews with government counterparts and other partners. Proposes and/or undertakes action on operational procedures affecting project management and implementation.
7.      Provides technical advice and assistance to government officials and other partners in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programme/project(s).
8.     Meets with national and international agencies covering the management of programmes/projects.
9.      Participates in meetings with ministries responsible for programme/project review, and follows up on implementation of recommendations and agreements.
10.  Coordinates with the Operations/Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities ensuring proper and timely UNICEF and government accountability.
11.   Certifies disbursements of funds, monitors and submits financial status reports to the Deputy Representative or Representative, as required.
12.  Participates in the development of the Education work plan, ensures the achievement of specific assigned objectives.
13.  Provides guidance and support to staff in meeting project objectives.
14.  Participates in the preparation of the Education programme documents for the Country Programme Document (CPD) and Plans of Action, and other programme documents, as required.
15.   Ensures the accurate and timely input of project information in the computerized programme system, and issues status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
16.  Prepares programme/project status reports required for management, Board, donors, budget review, programme analysis, annual reports, etc.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Advanced university degree in Education/Social Sciences, or related technical field.
·         Five years of relevant work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in the field of Education or related field.
·         Fluency in English required.
·         A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
