Actis is a leading investor in the emerging markets, managing over US$4.8bn worth of investment on behalf of more than 100 institutional investors, including the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), a UK Government owned company. Umeme is seeking to recruit employees with high integrity, dedication and commitment to fill the positions below in the Regulatory Affairs & Legal Department. The position holders will be stationed at our Offices in Kampala

Job Summary: The Job holder will be responsible for the preparation and submission of tariff applications to the Electricity Regulatory Authority, by conducting financial analysis of key tariff parameters, undertaking tariff and financial modeling and producing relevant reports

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Build and develop financial models, undertake computation of various tariff scenarios and carry out relevant sensitivity analysis of key tariff parameters for both internal and external purposes.
·         Provide linkage across the organisation by developing ‘common’ analytical methods, definitions, and reporting.
·         Coordinate preparation and timely submission of the relevant monthly, quarterly and annual reports to ERA.
·         Analyse company’s business model and budgets, including underlying budget assumptions and ensure linkage with the ERA tariff parameters in the tariff model.
·         Develop new capabilities improving reporting processes on Regulatory Targets and developing appropriate financial methods of evaluating and measuring performance on Regulatory Targets.
·         Assist with preparation and submission of reports on tariffs and Regulatory Targets to Management.
·         Monitor implementation of the Umeme Investment Annual Plans and ensure full recovery, in the tariff, of all investments (IN).
·         With Economist, carry out analysis of investments by other sector entities.
·         Coordinate verification of the Umeme Investments.
·         Participate in feasibility studies relating to end user tariffs, power factor tariffs, flat rate tariffs, Prepayment Metering tariffs, and connection charges.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Business /Finance/Economics.
·         A post graduate qualification such as a Masters Degree in Business administration, or ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent is an added advantage
·         A minimum of two years of experience, performing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and financial statement analysis and projection is essential.
·         A demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet applications and PowerPoint presentations is required.
·         Experience and demonstrated capability of serving as effective financial business partner in a service oriented environment is recommended.
