Job title: Volunteer, PMTCT Organization Overview: Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works to broaden access to life-saving diagnostics, treatment, care and support for patients in the poorest parts of the world. CHAI began its programs in the area of
HIV/AIDS and it is still one of the biggest spheres of work. Today, CHAI works across a wide array of programs that improve health outcomes in HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, Essential Medicines, etc. CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills in order to fill a volunteer role of PMTCT program officer. The candidate must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence.
CHAI is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to volunteer with the PMTCT team in Kampala, Uganda.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The PMTCT program officer will support the Program Coordinator to provide technical assistance to MOH for implementation of Uganda's campaign to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child (including data collection and analysis, supportive supervision, developing presentations and briefings, and coordination with stakeholders).
CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy, and work ethic. Specifically, key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist with the design, collection and analysis of data related to various surveys and pilot studies utilized in the wide-scale implementation of PMTCT Option B+ and other interventions planned by MOH
  • Support MOH in the development and maintenance of high quality data management systems;
  • Liaise with CHAI's global teams regarding information about PMTCT initiatives and assist with in-country technical or operational evaluations
  • Assist the team to build strong relationships with government representatives and key partners
  • Provide operational support to the Program Manager to develop, plan, and implement multiple activities simultaneously
Support the HIV systems team with other team's HR or administrative duties as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2-5 years of work experience
  • Experience living and/or working in developing countries
  • Fluency in English , excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Pluses (in order of priority):
  • Experience working for a management consulting firm
  • Prior modeling and costing experience
Experienced in HIV/AIDS, HIV - PMTCT, HIV - Pediatric Care & Support, Mother & Child Health will be a strong advantage
