Background
Mango Fund Communications Fellowship offers a qualified individual the rare opportunity to shape and maximize the impact potential of the fund. The Communications Fellow will actively take part in implementing the communication strategy in a dynamic environment of an international impact investment fund.

 Writing original content
: We expect that the Communications Fellow has the ability to analyze information on the Fund’s operations and synthetize it in stakeholders reports, grants, project proposals, press articles, and website news.
 
 Event support: Members of the Mango Fund team often take part in industry-specific, fundraising and networking events. An ideal candidate would be expected to brief the team to prior the events, photograph coverage during the events, and do follow-up communication using our website and social media after the events.
 Social media: We expect a solid understanding of and experience in implementing a social media strategy for organizations operating in the international development context. Experience in using Hootsuite or similar platform is desired.
 Operations: As a start-up, it is expected that all members, including interns, assist in a variety of operating activities (legal, marketing, accounting, administrative, etc.) towards the development of the organization.

Skills and Qualifications
Mango Fund is seeking exceptional professionals or students who share the following skills and characteristics:
    Experience: At least 2 years of strong work experience in a demanding professional environment. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are welcome to apply. Some specific backgrounds of interest are: communication, public relations, journalism.
    Strong writing skills: Ideal candidate should have ability to write high-quality pieces and knowledge of such topics as impact investing, international development, economics, etc.
    Strong computer literacy: Proficiency in using the MS Office package, ability to conduct secondary research, excellent understanding of using social media in a professional environment.
    Self-motivation:Eagerness to be a part of a groundbreaking start-up. Start-ups are unique in their ability to provide a seemingly endless amount of work. Candidates should be eager to wear many hats and put in significant hours to help build the organization and spread its influence. Also, candidates should be very self-motivated, able to manage their own agenda to accomplish varying responsibilities.
    Commitment: A willingness to commit to living in East Africa for the entirety of the one year Communication Fellowship. This role has the potential to develop into a long-term, career-track role. The ideal candidate will have at least one year demonstrated experience working in the developing world, although this is not a strict requirement.
