About the organisation:
Our Client, SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is a member of SOS Kinderdorf International, a worldwide, independent, non-governmental social development organization that has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children since 1949.
SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is a locally registered Trust with a local governing body: the Board of Trustees. It has been operating since 1989 and currently has projects caring for more than 2,500 children in four locations at Kakiri, Entebbe, Gulu and Fort Portal. The various projects include SOS Children’s Villages, Community outreach programmes, Kindergartens, schools, medical centres and social centres.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, budgeting and implementation of the national programming strategies and objectives.
  • Lead the initiative for proposal development towards the funding of programmes.
  • Lead the development of the programmes’ monitoring and evaluation tools and support systems.
  • Lead and build a motivated performance driven programme team.
  • Ensure the implementation of the programming policies, procedures and practices.
  • Represent the programme function externally at regional and continental forums.
  • Lead the development of the technical and financial reports for donor and public funded programmes.
  • Lead the implementation of sustainability based approaches in programmes using local initiatives and innovations. 
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The candidate should hold a University Degree from a reputable institution.
  • A Post graduate qualification in either Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation or Development Studies or related field is an advantage
  • At least ten (10) years programme development work related experience focusing on the needs of vulnerable children and community development, with 3 years at Senior Managerial Level.
  • Experience in proposal development and working with donor funded programmes.
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Networking and partnership skills.
  • Good negotiating skills.
  • People development skills such as training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Written communication skills 
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of community development using sustainability approaches.
  • Knowledge of national policies and systems regarding child development work.
