Its head office is located at Plot 37, Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero - Kampala ICOBI with support from Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU) is to participate in a 2 year program entitled “Link-Up Project within Central Uganda districts” to contribute to unintended pregnancies, HIV transmission and related maternal mortality amongst young people affected by HIV ICOBI is therefore looking for young and dynamic people between 20-24 to take on the 5 opportunities in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Luwero and Nakasongola. The applicants MUST be residents of the districts they are applying for and knowledgeable of district community structures, groups for young people and PLHIV networks.
 
Job Title: District Youth Link Officer – 5 posts
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Supervisee: Peer Leaders, Groups and Triple~ S Clubs
 
Job Summary: The job involves working with peer leaders, Triple S clubs, and young key populations to ensure they are informed, knowledgeable and can access integrated SRHR and HIV services from Link Up implementing partners, public and private health
facilities.
 
Key tasks and responsibilities
1. Support programme preparation through, community sensitisation and recruitment of volunteers
2. Support programme implementation, management and monitoring to achieve the project objectives
3. Manage volunteer outputs through monthly work plans, field visits and attendance at community events organised by volunteers
4. Ensure volunteer M & E forms are collected on a timely basis and delivered in appropriate format
5. Work closely with other Link Up implementing partners in the district
6. Provide constructive and regular feedback to volunteers
7. Ensure that youth friendly materials reach the target communities
8. Any other program related duties as assigned by the
supervisor
 
Qualifications, skills and experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Psychology or Guidance and Counselling from a recognised institution.
• One year experience in HIV/AIDS, Sexual and reproductive health and rights, and working with young people
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in Luganda is essential
• Experience as a volunteer with ICOBI will be an added advantage Personal Qualities
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple tasks and meeting agreed deadlines. He/she should be able to build strong working relationships with young volunteers and inspire them to achieve programme objectives.
