Job Openings in Karamoja Deutscte Gesellschaft Fur lnterratinnale

In the Lokere Watershed Management Zone, GlZ "Climate Change Adaptation” (CCA) Project in Karamoja will implement 2 pilot micro- watershed management interventions to demonstrate measures in natural resource restoration and water for production infrastructure. The project uses existing village, sub county and district structures to implement activities at community level. The approach is based on principles of participatory rural appraisal, do-no-harm and gender. Based on extended experience in Karamoja, GlZ CCA has learned that sustainability is best guaranteed if all level of stakeholder (individuals, village, sub county, district) are involved from the very beginning in participatory planning, joint implementation, monitoring and a structured exit strategy. The measures focus on water conservation techniques, applying agro-forestry systems, reduction of surface water run-off, soil conservation, erosion control, improved agro-pastoral production techniques as well as pasture and rangeland management. The project has openings for the following positions;

1. Natural Resources Officer
The Natural Resources Officer is responsible for the implementation of water catchment management in the two pilot areas, i.e. (1) Mount Moroto and (2) rangeland between Arecheck dam and Napak Mountain.

Skills and Qualifications
I University degree in natural resources, environmental sciences, forestry, agro-forestry or other related fields with profound knowledge in watershed management , A postgraduate qualification in management is an added advantage
Duty Station is GIZ CCA Office in Moroto Town, Moroto District, with frequent field visits to Moroto, Napak, akapiripirit and Amudat Districts of Karamoja.

2. Agro-Forestry Assistant Lokere Catchment Zone
Under the overall supervision of the Natural Resources Officer, the Agro-Forestry Assistant Lokere Catchment Zone is responsible for supporting the implementation of the CCA Programme, especially in the component of water catchment management, both in the greenhouse and in field extension work

Skills and Qualifications
I Minimum of Diploma in either: Forestry, Agro-Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, or Environment from a recognized institution I A University Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
Duty-station is Moroto District — however, staff- and coordination meetings require physical presence at the CCA-office Moroto Town, Moroto District.

3. 2 Field Assistants Lokere Catchment Zone
Under the overall supervision of the Natural Resources Officer, the Field Assistants Lokere Catchment Zone is responsible to support the implementation of the water catchment management activities in coordinating and implementing all GlZ CCA project activities within the component of water catchment management (identification, sensitization, mobilization, implementation and follow-up) in partnership with the local government (at all working levels) and other relevant partners; Supporting project management in the reporting of all activities and developments within the respective pilot area.

Skills and Qualifications
I Minimum of Diploma in Natural Resources Management, Agro- Forestry, Agriculture or Climate Change Adaptation
I A University Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
Duty Stations within Karamoja
One (1) Field Assistant Lokere Catchment Zone — in Napak District;
One (1) Field Assistant Lokere Catchment Zone — in Moroto District.

4. Field Assistant - Amudat
Under the overall supervision of the District Coordinator Amudat, the Field Assistant is responsible to support the implementation of the Climate Change Adaption (CCA) Programme in coordinating and implementing all GIZ CCA project activities within the district of assignment in partnership with the local government (at all working levels) and other relevant partners; Supporting project management in the reporting of all activities and developments within the respective district, including follow-up of local subsidies and ensuring that all field activities within the respective district are conducted in accordance with the 5 indicators of the CCA programme in a balanced manner

Skills and Qualifications
I Minimum of Diploma in Agro-Forestry orAgriculture
I A University Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
Duty-station is Amudat District — however, staff- and coordination meetings require physical presence at the CCA-office Moroto Town, Moroto District.
