Training and Development Specialist Career Opportunity at IREX in Uganda

Job title: Training and Development Specialist, Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative, Uganda
 Position Summary
IREX is currently seeking a Training and Development Specialist for a Youth Empowerment and
Development Initiative in Uganda. The program aims to address exploitative child labor among youth (15-18) by helping them to develop marketable skills to secure employment, and by supporting their engagement as leaders in their local communities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide creative vision, technical design, and implementation oversight to the training and development component of this youth development program. 
  • Oversee and contribute technical input on youth development training; oversee and develop the creation of appropriate training curriculum for youth and youth-serving professionals. 
  • Support the formation of and activities for youth-serving organizations and networks. 
  • Ensure that activities and milestones are implemented on track and that deliverables are of high quality. 
  • Contribute to the development of annual plans, work plans, and reports. 
  • Manage project staff and implementing partners. 
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local partners and stakeholders, including government officials.
Qualifications and skills
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position responsible for developing livelihoods, training, and development interventions. 
  • Experience with the technical aspects related to the Applicant's proposed strategy, including skills training, employment generation, entrepreneurship, alternative/additional income generation, youth employment, and social protection, as applicable. 
  • Experience in projects promoting leadership development. 
  • Understanding of youth empowerment and development issues. 
  • Experience working successfully with government agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting youth empowerment and development, including the provision of livelihoods and social services. 
  • Experience working with employers' organizations, trade unions, or other civil society organizations. 
  • Outstanding English communication skills, both written and oral
