occupy the position of Chief Operations Officer
Key Job Objectives:
To drive the growth of the Business' Asset and Liability
portfolio in the Business' chosen Market segment, as per the Business' strategy
and maximize net revenue generation through delivery of a fast track product
structuring and appraisal process that will ensure timely delivery of well
structured products to customers.
To plan, direct and oversee the strategies and activities of
the Business' Support Functions, Providing leadership and supervision to ensure
an efficient and effective delivery of services to both internal and external
customers
Education Requirements:
A Good Business University degree
Masters Degree in economics, accounting or business
administration and lor Microfinance will be an added advantage
Required Experience:
·
At least 10 years post qualification experience
with 5 years in a management position in a regulated financial institution.
·
A sound knowledge of banking operations, human
resource management, ICT, corporate communication and general administration.
·
A working experience in Risk or Compliance
department. Working Knowledge of Lending to Small businesses, Agricultural
based businesses or individual lending
Special Personal
Abilities:
·
Determined personality with initiative,
perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team
·
Capability and willingness to take
responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitude
·
Extensive experience on the operational business
of VFU Good knowledge in economic and financial topics
·
A good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach
·
Very good communication skills
·
Mature, committed Christian
·
Sound credit applications, efficient monitoring
and proper documentation for loans across VFU branch network.
·
Efficiency in branch operations and Head Office
departments. Quality loan portfolio of VFU;
·
Compliance to VFU policies and procedures in
both Head Office and branch transactions.
·
Establishment of sound and effective controls
Excellent performance of all staff
Main tasks and responsibilities:
·
Plans, organizes, and controls all the
day-to-day activities of the institution; collaborates with the Chief Executive
Officer in the overall administration of VFU.
·
Pertorms supervisory duties of the 6 core
departments, namely Finance, HRIAdmin, MIS, Risk, Business Growth and Branch
Operations; Coordinates activities of the different departments and secures
adequate information flow among the departments Ensures that the targets set by
the branches, agreed with the management, and approved by the BOD are reached;
·
Develops various operational, financial,
marketing, and monitoring strategies to ensure maximum profits commensurate
with the best interest of shareholders, customers, employees, and the public;
·
Monitors, on a daily basis, the performance of
the branches, and attends immediately to the branch concerns and issues through
the Operations Manager.
·
Sits with the Executive Credit Committee (ECC),
the body tasked to evaluate and approve all loans at Head of Credit Committee.
Ensures that VFU absolutely complies with the regulations, including the
submission of required returns to BoU according to the schedule specified in
the regulations.
·
In coordination with the Finance Manager,
consolidates budget proposals submitted by the different departments and
submits to CEO who is responsible for recommending approval to the BoD;
Develops strategic plans for the institution. These plans include, but not
limited to, setting up of new departments or offices if the need arises,
introduction of new products (as recommended by the branch operations
department), opening of new branches Decides on all operational issues within
the framework of existing regulations and management decisions;

Develops proposals for further improvement of
operations, including concepts for new products and services;
·
Act as an alternate of the CEO in his absence
·
And other responsibilities that may be assigned
by the CEO
