Brief summary of the job
The Kampala-based Project Director / COP will provide overall management leadership to the design and implementation of a proposed 5-year, $50 million integrated health and health systems strengthening project with implementation in 15 districts in Uganda, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Availability of position is contingent upon award to FHI 360. Selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval.

Duties and Responsibilities
    Provide overall leadership and supervisory management to the project
    Serve as the primary liaison with USAID/Uganda
    Ensure coordination between implementing partners, Ministry of Health, district health officials, communities and other relevant stakeholders
    Prepare and submit technical and financial reports as requested by USAID
    Provide project compliance oversight and quality assurance monitoring to all technical, programmatic, administrative and financial activities
    Supervise project staff

Qualifications and Skills
    MS/MA/MPH in public health or related field with a minimum of 15 years of relevant program management and supervisory experience on multi-faceted international development programs.
    Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with senior government personnel, NGO partners, U.S. and foreign government organizations, and donor partners.
    Comprehensive understanding of the Ugandan context as it relates to health systems strengthening, HIV/AIDS, RH/FP, and other relevant health issues, including maternal health, malaria, and TB.
    Experience working on USAID-funded programs.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
    Ability to work independently and manage a high volume work flow.
    Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
    Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed.
    Experience working in Uganda preferred.
