Title of the Job: Senior Laboratory Technologist

Key Job functions:
• Participating in planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation STD reference Laboratory services at
mulago Hospital
• Supervising the production, packages and evaluation of all laboratory reagents and supplies for the STD reference laboratory
• Supervise the collection, testing and analysis of specimens for STD/HIV diagnostics at the STD reference laboratory
• Managing and ensuring security and functionality of the laboratory equipment
• Providing technical advice on matters regarding STD diagnostics in the country
• Participating in the development of training materials and implementation training activities
• Preparing and submitting periodic performance reports to supervisor

Key skills and Qualifications:
•Applicants Must have a bachelors degree in medical laboratory sciences OR advanced diploma in medical laboratory technology form a recognized university
• Possession of a post graduate degree in a lab related discipline such as microbiology; pathology would be an added advantage

Required Experience: At least 6 years relevant working experience in a regional referral or national referral laboratory

Key Competences and skills:
• Demonstrated ability at training or mentoring laboratory staff
• Demonstrated knowledge of good laboratory practices
• Good writing and interpersonal skills
