Brief Job Description; The Senior Manager, Reporting & Budget leads internal and external financial
reporting efforts, budget development and implementation, and maintenance of financial systems, policies, and procedures. This position supervises two finance personnel, and reports directly to the CFO. The incumbent will be expected to provide timely, accurate, and meaningful financial data and analysis to field personnel, external stakeholders, the finance management team, and the CFO.

The Specific Job Duties
Financial Reporting Generation and review of GAAP financial statements, including but not limited to the Statement of Activities, the Statement of Position, the Statement of Functional Expenses, and the Statement of Cash Flows • Generation and review of internal financial statements, including but not limited to budget-to-actual reports, general fund summary reports, program needs and fundraising performance reports, and other routine or ad hoc financial reports as necessary for managerial decision making • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner • Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements • Collate financial reporting materials for various departments and offices • Monitor all financial, program and grant accounting efforts • Ensure timely and accurate filing of organizational 990 • Along with the Director of Operations Finance, facilitate the A-133 audit process and provide appropriate accounting schedules and support • Oversee NICRA calculation and negotiation, as well as internal overhead and indirect cost recovery practices • Monitor and report on solicitor fundraising performance against stated goals • Maintain membership with various organizations such as ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability), Better Business Bureau, and Charity Navigator

Budgeting Implement and manage the annual budget process, in conjunction with the CFO • Assist in the development of departmental and field office budget limits, including preparation of budget analysis and historic performance necessary to inform decision making • Guide field offices and departments through the budget process, from input to approval • Provide training and support for all budget functions • Review financial plans and completed budgets • Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status

Financial Systems & Practices Develop, maintain and implement financial policies and accounting practices • Maintain an effective Chart of Accounts, sufficient for allowing consistent and reliable financial reporting • Oversee the maintenance and functionality of accounting and finance software • Facilitate accounting software support for finance department end users • Define the opening and closing of the monthly accounting periods • Oversee the timely annual rollover of the fiscal year • Manage the interface between the General Ledger and Raiser’s Edge (fundraising software)

ERP Training & Implementation Provide support to the ERP implementation process, in collaboration with the ERP Software Development and Implementation Units based in Nicaragua • Oversee the design and creation of training materials for certain facets of the ERP system including user manuals, training videos and web based help screens • Provide training to end users on the ERP system as well as ongoing mentoring and support

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance • CPA, MBA or MS in Finance or Accounting is preferred but not required • Quality experience may substitute for an accounting degree • CPA is an indicator of requisite level of technical knowledge • At least 3-5 years of relevant financial management experience • Prior supervisory experience including hiring and training • Experience overseeing the use of accounting software preferred • High level of office software skills, including Excel pivot table reports Experience with the application of technical accounting principles, management of the accounting cycle and with the annual financial audit process • Knowledge of non-profit accounting and government grant accounting principles strongly preferred • Experience with a fund accounting system preferred • Ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision • Willingness and ability to collaborate and seek guidance and input when appropriate • Strong oral and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate by phone or by e-mail with people for whom English is not their first language

Working conditions are a general office setting with significant time working at a computer, reading from computer screen, entering data through computer keyboard & mouse, retrieving documents from printer, standing at copier or fax machine, and frequent attaching and removing staples • Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending • Physical, Emotional and Intellectual Demands: Busy office setting • Equipment used: Personal computer (desktop or laptop), calculator, printer, fax, and copier
