POST TITLE:  ASSISTANT
UNAIDS is the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, that brings together the efforts and resources of UN Agencies and aims to advance global progress in achieving country set targets for Universal
Access to HIV Prevention, treatment, care and support and to halt and reverse the spread of HIV and contribute to achievement of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term Contract
Level:    G5
Duty Station: Kampala.

    Personnel-related issues: Monitor the contractual status of staff, drawing contract ending dates to the attention of the supervisor in a timely manner; initiate extensions where necessary, monitor due dates of performance evaluation reports, and coordinate travel and leave calendar
    General Administration: Participate in the harmonization of administrative and management systems within the office/team, sharing experiences and lessons learnt with others; coordinating quarterly travel plans; and handling all aspects of travel arrangements for the Country Coordinator and other staff/consultants.
    Perform other related duties as assigned; including replacing and backstopping for others as required.

Basic Requirement:

    Essential: Completion of secondary school, complemented by secretarial training, including training in ICDL (International Computer Driving License Core Certification. Desirable: Higher education.
    Essential: A minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in secretarial positions, including experience in dealing with administrative issues and some experience In UNAIDS or WHO, roles and procedures Desirable: Experience In the UN System and in the use of the ERP system
    Essential: Excellent knowledge of the English language together with the local language.
    Desirable: Knowledge of another UN official language.

OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    Demonstrated knowledge and skills with computer software; sound knowledge of UN administrative roles, regulations, procedures and practices; ability to work In teams; communicate with impact; apply expertise: drive change and Innovation and be held accountable.
