We are seeking suitable candidates to fill two positions within our East and Southern Africa (EASA) Regional Office – located In Kampala, Uganda. The EASA Region includes Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Burundi, with a small pro­gram in Kenya.

Regional Human Resources Officer (12 month contract with possibility of extension)

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Regional Director and technically working with the Human Resources Director based in Toronto, the Regional HR Officer is responsible for the overall management of the operational Human Resources functions within the EASA Region. The Regional Human Resources Officer will work with the Regional Director, the Director that HR functions of East and Southern Africa (EASA) reflect Right To Play’s mission. vision and values and comply with local legislation and labour laws.

Key Result Areas

    Compliance with Right To Play International HR policies and practices, making adjustment for local labour laws where required
    Provide HR support to managers in all employee relations matters
    Monitor recruitment practices and provide EASA oversight of field recruitment
    Provide support in determining training needs of stall and take lead or provide support in arranging’ delivering training as needed.
    Facilitate fob evaluation within EASA and determine competitive salary scales in relation to job value and market conditions within the region, especially within the NGO sector.
    Support performance evaluation system – probationary, annual and tri-annual Goals review and training managers on the performance evaluation system
    Oversee administration of benefits programs within the Region and ensure benefits database is accurate and up to date.

Basic Requirement:
(must have): University Degree in Human Resources / Personnel Management and / or higher Diploma in Human Resources Masters Degree is desirable EXPERIENCE Candidates should possess:

    5 to 7 years Human Resources management experience in the non-profit sector Competency based HR practices and International HR experience, with a strong focus on the East and Southern Africa Region.
    Proven verbal and written communication skills
    Proven interpersonal skills to work with an international and culturally diverse team
    Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate far the needs of the audience
    Negotiation - Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences related to HR issues
    Cross cultural capacity - ability to support manages within a multi cultural context and use approaches that respect the strengths of individual cultures and assist with participatory and empowering management styles.
    Critical Thinking, Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    Knowledge and understanding of EASA regional employment standards
    Strong MS Office Skills
    Experience with setting up and administering HRIS
    Experience in payroll administration
    Human Resources Management - Knowledge of principles and procedures for staff recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, job design, labour relations and negotiation, and Human Resources Information Systems.
    Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, workflow planning and processes, and coordination of people and resources.
